    Abstract:

    Abstract: A series of Ni50-xCoxMn39Sn11 (x = 0-8) alloy ribbons were prepared by a single-roll melt spinning method and its crystal structure, phase transition, and magnetocaloric effect are investigated. The martensitic transformation temperatures decrease rapidly and the Curie temperature of austenitic phase increases monotonously with the substitution of Ni by Co. The structural transformation can be induced not only by the temperature, but also by the magnetic field. Under field change of 30 kOe, we get large magnetic entropy change and refrigerant capacity in the heating process and cooling process with much lower hysteresis loss.
